Rescue in the Water

Response to Rescue in the Water

Everywhere go and look you can see hero’s of all different sorts. Hero’s are all over, from teachers to help you learn to soldiers to help keep the country safe. All though the soldiers may seem more important, the teachers also play an important role in life. There are hero’s all around, but many aren’t recognized for the things they do.
The article “Rescue in the Water” by Jason Kersten talks about hero’s that aren’t important to everyone but definitely made a difference in Mike McClure’s life. He went out on an ordinary day and later found himself being saved by 3 students of the New College of Florida. Eliza Cameron age 19, Loren Niurka age 20, and Caitlin Petro age 20, the 3 hero’s in the story, had no idea that they would be doing that deed that day. Hero’s, like the girls, have no idea that they could be helping someone one day, but once they do they feel really good about themselves. If they didn’t help Mike he would have drown. They really saved his life and they will remember that forever, even if others don’t.
Even when the things you do are small they make a big difference in others lives. Next time you see someone struggle whether their drowning or need help with their math homework help them out and know that that’s still making a difference. Hero’s are everywhere, even if you can’t tell who is a hero and who is just a person that looks out for only themselves.
