Why didn't John Smith 36 like his lifestyle even though he worked for Xbox?

Personally I thought that he liked the way his life was and what he really didn't like was the his mother was dying. Although the reason someone with that lifestyle wouldn't like it is because he is constantly working, during the day, at home and he has to go on week long business trips once a month. Because of this he would never really have time to go out with the guys or have a long term relationship. I would personally love that life, getting to work and play video games and getting to travel to talk about video games with people around the area.
